Here are some reasons behind sleep disturbances.

1. You Are Dealing With Anxiety Problems

People who are suffering from anxiety issues generally fail to get a peaceful sleep at night. In another case, poor sleep may trigger anxiety. Some online research says that sleep disturbances and psychiatric disorders are interrelated. Your sleep is affected by stress & anxiety.

2. The medicines you are taking cause wakefulness

Some prescription drugs disturb sleep as their composition affects your internal clock. Those who take antidepressants, decongestants, heart medicines, etc. on a regular basis are most likely to suffer sleep deprivation. 

3. Poor heart health

Your sleep and your heart health are closely related. There is a condition named Atherosclerosis related to blocked arteries which target people with disturbed sleep. You are at a risk of artery blockage is you don't get a good sleep.

4. You are hungry

Long hours of fasting or not eating can lower the blood pressure of your body which is why it will become restless due to insufficient energy. Don't eat heavy meals after 8 but don't starve yourself either.

5. Your brain is producing lesser sleep spindles

The brain activity of people who sleep appropriately and peacefully is relatively higher than those who don't. Better brain activity reduces the chances of waking up to loud noises. Hence, if you are facing trouble sleeping through the night, it might be due to poor electrical brain activity.

6. You Are Visually Creative

Now, this could be counted as a positive point but it isn't good for your health! People with a creative mind supposedly sleep less. Since their mind is indulged in a lot of creative thoughts, they find it very difficult to sleep for long hours.

7.  You are scared of the dark

A lot of people are Nyctophobic or have a fear of darkness and/or dark environments. Such people freak out when lights go off or when there is absolute darkness around. You need to assess whether you are dealing with nyctophobia or not.
