Don't we all just love that sacred mug of coffee  early in the morning? How the perfect blend of caffeine helps you wake up and welcome the day! Aren't we all aware of that feeling when we push ourselves to follow the snooze in our alarms, crawl out to bed and then suddenly get back to life as soon as we take a sip from our coffee-filled cup. Coffee is a very potent drink to help us stay awake and alert. For some, it is the only substance that helps them get through their day with all the need to be productive for the rest of the hours. With that being said, it's really no wonder why a lot of us developed a habit out of it. It's addictive!

Here are 6 healthy alternatives to caffeine to sail your boat through the sleepless exam nights or before an important meeting!

Apples!
Don't we all know how an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Well, it all comes down to the most basic of fruits. Apples contain sufficient natural sugar and vitamins to keep you awake. It is a healthy snack known to fight sleepiness. They can be juiced with celery or even sliced and dipped in peanut butter. Either way, apples are great pick-me-ups throughout the day.

Dark Chocolate
Because, who doesn't love chocolates? Have this in small doses during the week. Dark chocolate- without milk or sugar (sorry, no golden ticket here) - has a small amount of caffeine in it, which helps heighten mental alertness. Dark chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine, which boost energy levels.

Water
Nothing perks me up quicker than a large glass of water in the morning. It's actually been proven that drinking a glass of water can make your brain action 14% faster! It's also a refreshing alternative to coffee, and will get your metabolism working long before you arrive at work.

Green Tea
Can't make it through the morning without your daily morning coffee? Try brewing some green tea, which contains high amount of polyphenols and antioxidants that improve cardiovascular health and reduce both cholesterol levels and plaque buildup in arteries. Furthermore, green tea is known to boost your immune system and aid in weight loss. What are you waiting for? Sip up already.

Eat energy-boosting snacks
Kick the caffeine addiction and stock up on energy-packed food throughout your day. For starters, eggs are a healthy source of protein and can be a coffee replacement in the morning. Other foods include oatmeal, fruits and whole wheat toast, which will satisfy your appetite, increase your concentration and provide the energy you require to get through the day.

Exercise
Most of us would cringe at the thought of a morning jog. Little do we know that even 30 minutes of exercise per session gets the heart pumping, boosts circulation and generally keeps us more awake and active.

With the above mentioned alternatives, say goodbye to coffee jitters, and hello to a healthier you!
