We all know that pimples are caused by sebaceous glands that excrete an oily substance called sebum. But how many of us are aware that they can be easily treated with effective home remedies?
Pimples, one of the most common problems in the world, can be categorized into four types - whiteheads, blackheads, papules, and cysts. And irrespective of which category they belong to, they can be treated with these 10 simple home remedies.

Basil or Tulsi paste: Tulsi paste is great way to get rid of pimples when you use it on a regular basis. If you can't get fresh basil, then you can grab a bottle of dried basil leaves from your local mall and steep it in warm water about 2-3 teaspoons such that a paste can be formed and use that on the face for about 10 minutes for 4-5 times a week.

Honey and Lemon Juice: A mixture of honey and lemon juice is one of the simple yet effective homemade beauty tips for pimples treatment. Mix 1 tbsp. of honey with 1 tbsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice and apply it on the pimples as well as on the spots left out by pimples. Do not however apply on aggravated pimples because it can cause severe burning sensation. Keep on for 10 minutes and wash off, while you continue this 5-6 times a week, you are bound to find effective results.

Tea Tree Oil: Another popular natural treatment for acne is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil acts like an antiseptic and disinfects the pores. In addition, it helps kill the bacteria that cause acne.  Just apply one drop of tree tea oil to the affected area three times a day.

If the application of undiluted tea tree oil causes skin irritation, redness, or overdrying then use tea tree oil diluted in water or mix it with aloe vera gel and then apply.

Fuller's Earth: Fuller's earth also known as multani mitti is good for greasy and acne-prone skin as it absorbs excessive oil (without over-drying your skin) and unclogs the pores. It helps improve your complexion too. You can find it at Indian grocery stores.

  1. Mix equal proportions of Fuller's earth (multani mitti), rose water, and sandalwood powder. You can add more rose water to get a better consistency of the paste.
  2. Apply this mud pack to your face.
  3. Wash after it dries up.
  4. Repeat the process once a week.
Toothpaste: The toothpaste that you use regularly to clean your teeth can also help clear up an acne problem. This is in fact one of the easiest home remedies for acne. Apply a small amount of white toothpaste on the affected area before going to bed. Leave it overnight and rinse your face in the morning.

Dry Roast Cinnamon and Honey: You can slightly dry roast cinnamon or dalchini, finely grind them to use it for pimples. Make a paste by mixing cinnamon with honey and apply it at least 5-6 times a week for about 10-15 minutes before washing off.

Margosa or Neem leaves: Neem leaves are perfect for treating pimples. Make a paste of neem leaves and apply on the targeted pimples. If you cannot get fresh neem leaves, try to get some dried bottled neem leaves, steep for 10 minutes in warm water and use as a paste.

Sesame Seeds: Make a paste of sesame seeds, if you are using seeds, soak them overnight and then made into a fine paste or use the readily available powder. Keep them on for 10 minutes and see the difference.

Potato: You can also apply potato juice/ slice/ grated potato directly on your pimples. Keep the sticky juice of potato on the face for 10 minutes or more and then wash off. It gives a natural mild bleaching glow to the skin.
Note: - You can follow the same procedure with Tomato juice.

Mint: Soak some mint leaves and make a fresh paste because it has the quality to provide a cooling and astringent effect to the skin. Pimple's stubbornness will reduce and they will reduce in size as well. Regular use of this Ayurveda medicine for pimples will help one get rid of the pimple marks too.

Nutmeg: Nutmeg or jaiphal is a great spice that can be used to solve pimple problems. Make it into a fine powder, use it with water or milk in the form of a paste. Let it on for 10 minutes maximum before washing it off.

Cloves: You can ground some Cloves in the same way, but the clove oil content in it may give an immense burning sensation when used on aggravated pimples. Use with milk or water in very less amount and test it on a patch before applying on major areas on the face.
